Log View Display Result Tab
The Display result tab is the fourth of five tabs when you add or manage a Log View. It decides which columns users see in the result. Users find what they look for faster when the business value they search on, such as the order number, is a column next to the time and the status.

Three ways to set the columns: the default, your own selection, or a reusable Display Field Configuration.
| Option | Use it when |
|---|---|
| Default | The standard columns are enough; the fields of the default search setup are added as columns |
| Manual configuration | This Log View needs its own columns, order, or names |
| Existing configuration | Several Log Views should show the same columns; see Display Field Configurations |

The Display result tab with its three options.
A Search Field you add as a column always shows its value, also when users don't search on it; see Which Search Field Values a Log View Shows.

Animated walkthrough: the users search on the order number only, and the Order Total column still shows its value.
Column configuration
Choose Manual configuration and click Edit columns to open Customize Columns for the Log View. Pick the columns from the same Display Fields the Optional fields offer: every Search Field, the built-in Log Event fields, and the Comment fields. These columns appear when users search for Log Events.

Animated walkthrough: pick, order, and rename the columns, then see them in the result.
- On the Display result tab, choose Manual configuration and click Edit columns.
- On the All tab, filter and tick the columns: Log Date Time, O2C - Order ID, and Contoso: Order Total.
- Open the Selected tab and drag O2C - Order ID by its handle to the top.
- Turn on the Artifact Renaming switch, and type Total in the box of Contoso: Order Total.
- Click Confirm and close, then Save and show, and search the order ORD-10001.
- The result has the columns O2C - Order ID, Log Date Time, and Total, in that order. Total has a value on the Order Received event, the only step whose message carries the order total.
With Existing configuration, pick a Display Field Configuration of the Log View type; deleted ones and Monitor View configurations aren't offered, so create the configuration under Display Field Configurations first. A link opens the configuration, and the tab shows its columns read-only: change them in the configuration, and every Log View that uses it follows; see the walkthrough Change once, every view follows.

Animated walkthrough: one column set, reused by every order Log View.
- On the Display result tab, choose Existing configuration.
- Pick Contoso: Order columns. The tab lists its columns: O2C - Order ID, Log Date Time, O2C - Customer Name, Contoso: Order Total, and Log Text.
- Click Save and show, and search the order ORD-10001. The result shows those columns.
