DaysToKeepLogAudits - System Parameter

The DaysToKeepLogAudits System Parameter sets how many days Nodinite keeps Log Audit records, the audit trail of sensitive operations performed by users and by the Nodinite Core Services. The Logging Service deletes older records on its next cleanup run.

How It Works

Nodinite always writes a Log Audit record when a user or a service performs a sensitive operation, and administrators search these records in Log Audit Search. On each cleanup run (see CleanUpTimerInterval), the Logging Service deletes Log Audit records older than this value. One value applies to all Log Audit records. The full retention pipeline is described in the Logging Service Data Retention section.

Warning

Deleted Log Audit records cannot be recovered. Check your audit requirements before you lower the value.

Choosing a Value

  • Set the value from your organisation's own audit and compliance requirements; ask your compliance or legal team how long the audit trail must be kept.
  • A longer retention keeps a longer audit trail at the cost of more storage.
  • If you must keep audit records longer than is practical in Nodinite, export them from Log Audit Search to your own archive before they expire.
