DefaultRolesInViews - System Parameter

DefaultRolesInViews lists the Roles that the Web Client pre-selects when an administrator creates a new Log View, Monitor View, or C4 Diagram Set. The administrator can still remove the default Roles or add others before saving.

How It Works

New item Where the default Roles appear

  • New items only. Changing the value doesn't touch existing Log Views, Monitor Views, or Diagram Sets; change their Roles on their own pages.
  • Pre-selected, not enforced. The administrator can remove a default Role or add more before saving.
  • Permissions are set per item. The parameter only adds the Roles; you still set each Role's permissions on the new item, see Permission Set for Log Views, Permission Set for Monitor Views, and Permission Set for C4 Diagram Sets.
  • Unknown names are skipped. A name that doesn't match an existing Role isn't pre-selected. Write each name exactly as it appears in Roles.

Choosing a Value

  • Keep Administrators in the list, so administrators can reach every new item.
  • Add only Roles that need access to most new items, such as an operations or support team. Add specialised Roles by hand on the items that need them; every extra default Role is one more you may have to remove later.
