MissingEventsDays - System Parameter
The MissingEventsDays System Parameter sets how many days the Logging Service waits for incomplete logged data to become complete. After that, its cleanup run deletes unprocessed Log Events that still have no Message Type, and, for BizTalk Log Agents, message data whose matching events never arrived.

How It Works
On each cleanup run (see CleanUpTimerInterval), the Logging Service deletes two kinds of incomplete data older than MissingEventsDays:
| What is deleted | Applies to |
|---|---|
| Unprocessed Log Events that have no Message Type | All logging sources |
| Message data (bodies and context) whose matching events never arrived | BizTalk Server Logging only |
Retention for complete, processed events is set per Message Type instead (see DaysToKeepMessageEventsDefault). Data that never becomes complete has no Message Type retention to expire by, so this parameter is what removes it.
BizTalk tracking data reaches Nodinite in parts. If BizTalk tracking stops or is interrupted, message data can be copied without the event it belongs to. Why this happens and how to fix it is covered in BizTalk Server Logging and Copying Body and Context has been interrupted. The full retention pipeline is described in the Logging Service Data Retention section.
Choosing a Value
- Keep the default
7days in most environments. - Raise the value if BizTalk tracking is sometimes stopped for longer than the current value, so that data has time to be completed before it is deleted.
- Lower the value to remove incomplete data sooner when you are sure it will never be completed.
Warning
Deleted data cannot be recovered. A value that is too low can delete BizTalk message data before its events arrive.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does this parameter only apply to BizTalk Server?
No. The cleanup of unprocessed Log Events without a Message Type applies to every logging source. Only the cleanup of message data without matching events is specific to BizTalk Log Agents.
