Manage BPMs

Business Process Models (BPMs) show business users how a transaction moves through your process, step by step and Domain by Domain. A BPM is only as useful as it is current, so this page shows how to add, change, copy, and clean up BPMs.

  • ✅ Add, edit, and duplicate BPMs, and open them in the BPM Designer
  • ✅ Delete BPMs you no longer use
  • ✅ Restore deleted BPMs if you change your mind

On this page, an administrator, or a user whose Role may modify BPMs, learns to manage the BPM list. Business users who only look up BPMs, or search log events from a BPM, start with the BPM Overview instead.

Understanding delete and restore

Delete in Nodinite is a soft delete: the BPM is flagged as deleted and hidden from the list, but it stays in the database, so you can restore it. Deleting a BPM doesn't affect its Services, Resources, or log data. See Show deleted records for how this works across Nodinite.

Who can do what

Action Who can do it Can you undo it?
Add or duplicate a BPM Create on BPMs in the Role ✅ Yes, delete it
Edit a BPM, also in the BPM Designer Modify on BPMs (Permission Set for the Repository Model) ⚠️ No version history; change it back by hand
Delete a BPM Modify on BPMs ✅ Yes, restore it
Restore a BPM Modify on BPMs ✅ Yes, delete it again

These actions also work from the Repository menu for users whose Role allows it; the Administration menu needs the built-in Administrator Role.

Every right is set per Role on its Repository Permissions tab. Users first need the global Access right on Repository (Repository Access), then Access on the BPMs row; Create and Modify sit on the BPMs Permissions for all row. A Deny in any of the user's Roles always wins. To show live events, a BPM also needs Log View and Monitor View rights; see What permissions does a BPM need?.

Find the BPMs list

Open Administration > Repository Management > BPMs, or Repository > BPMs. From Administration, clicking a BPM opens it for editing; from Repository, it opens it for viewing. Type in the filter box to narrow a long list, and check Include deleted to list deleted BPMs too.

Add a BPM

Click Add BPM to open the editor. See Add or manage BPM for every field and for building the process in the Designer.

The Add BPM button opens the BPM editor.

Tip

You can also manage BPMs from DevOps pipelines with the Nodinite Web API.

Click Action on a row to open the Action menu for that BPM:

  • View opens the BPM read-only.
  • Edit opens the BPM in the editor.

Open the BPM Designer

Choose Open Designer from the BPM's Action menu to model the process visually. The BPM Designer is a swimlane-based interface where you organize Services across Domains and process steps. New 7.10 From the Designer, the Mapify and Mermaid buttons show the BPM as an interactive Mapify Rendering graph or a static Mermaid Rendering diagram.

Duplicate a BPM

Choose Duplicate from the BPM's Action menu. Nodinite creates a copy of the BPM with all its configuration, which you can then change as needed.

Click Copy API URI to see the underlying REST call to the Web API and copy the query string. Use it in custom Reports, automation scripts, or DevOps pipelines.

Frequently asked questions / Troubleshooting

I deleted a BPM by mistake. Can I get it back?

Yes. Check Include deleted, then restore it.

Does deleting a BPM remove log data or monitoring?

No. Deleting a BPM doesn't affect its Services, Resources, or logged events. Only the process model is hidden until you restore it.
