Manage Systems
Systems are the business systems, applications, and partners your integrations connect. They anchor the Repository Model, so a wrong or outdated System makes impact analysis wrong too. This page shows how to keep the System list clean and correct.
- ✅ Add, duplicate, and edit Systems
- ✅ Delete Systems, and restore them if you change your mind
- ✅ Export Systems and copy the API URL for custom reports
On this page, an administrator, or a user whose Role may modify Systems, learns to manage the System list. Business users who only look up Systems start with the Systems Overview instead.
Understanding delete and restore
Delete in Nodinite is a soft delete: the System is flagged as deleted and hidden from the list, but it stays in the database, so you can restore it. See Show deleted records for how this works across Nodinite.

A System's life after Delete. Green: active. Yellow: deleted, and anyone who may modify Systems can restore it. See Show deleted records.
Who can do what
| Action | Who can do it | Can you undo it? |
|---|---|---|
| Add or duplicate a System | Create on Systems in the Role | ✅ Yes, delete it |
| Edit a System | Modify on Systems (Permission Set for the Repository Model) | ⚠️ No version history; change it back by hand |
| Delete a System | Modify on Systems | ✅ Yes, restore it |
| Restore a System | Modify on Systems | ✅ Yes, delete it again |
Everything also works from the Repository menu for users whose Role allows it; the Administration menu needs the built-in Administrator Role.
Every right is set per Role on its Repository Permissions tab. Users first need the global Access right on Repository (Repository Access), then Access on the Systems row; Create and Modify sit on the Systems Permissions for all row. A Deny in any of the user's Roles always wins.
Find the Systems list
Open Administration > Repository Management > Systems, or Repository > Systems. From Administration, clicking a System opens it for editing; from Repository, it opens it for viewing.

Use the filter box and Include deleted Systems to narrow the list before you change anything.
Add a System
Click Add System to open the editor. See Add or manage System for every field.

The Add System button opens the System editor.
To start from an existing System instead, choose Duplicate from its Action menu to clone it.
Tip
You can also manage Systems from DevOps pipelines with the Nodinite Web API.
Edit a System
Click the System's Name in the Administration list, or choose Edit from its Action menu. See Add or manage System for every field.
The Action menu
Click Action on a row to open the Action menu for that System:
- Edit opens the System in the editor, and Duplicate creates a copy of it.
- Delete on an active System; Restore on a deleted one.
- Export opens the Export wizard.

The Action menu of an active System. A deleted System offers Restore instead of Delete.
Delete a System
Choose Delete from the System's Action menu. The System disappears from the list, and you can restore it later.
Restore a deleted System
- Check Include deleted Systems to list deleted Systems.
- Open the Action menu of the deleted System and choose Restore.
The restored System is back in the list. See Show deleted records.
Export a System
Note
Import/Export is disabled in Nodinite 7.0. Use the Web API to move data between instances for now.
Choose Export from the System's Action menu to open the Nodinite generic Export wizard.
Copy API URL
Click Copy API URL to see the underlying REST call to the Web API and copy the query string. Use it in custom Reports, CMDB systems, automation scripts, or custom dashboards.
