Endpoint Types

EndPointTypeId is a mandatory number in every Log Event. Its value, one of the Endpoint Types below, tells which transport or technology the Endpoint uses, such as File, SFTP, REST API, or Azure Service Bus. Nodinite stores the Endpoint Type on the Endpoint in the Repository Model, and you can filter on it in Log Views, for example to find messages sent by FTP or received from an Azure Service Bus queue.

Repository Endpoints filtered on Endpoint Type
In the Repository Model, you can list Endpoints and filter them on Endpoint Type.

Important

EndPointTypeId is mandatory. ALWAYS provide a value in the Log Event.

To get the current list for your version, call GET /LogAPI/api/LogEvent/EndPointTypes on the Log API; see Explore operations in Scalar or Swagger.

Choosing a value

  • Nodinite Logging Agents set the correct Endpoint Type for you.
  • For custom logging, pick the type that matches the transport of the Endpoint you log from, for example 82 (SFTP) for an SFTP drop or 70 (Microsoft Azure Service Bus) for a queue. The value creates and categorizes the Endpoint in Nodinite, so a precise type gives your users better information and filter options.
  • Avoid 0 (Unknown); your users can't filter on it.
  • Combine the Endpoint Type with the Endpoint Direction to tell, for example, a received SFTP file from a sent one.

Examples

A message received from an Azure Service Bus queue:

{
  "LogAgentValueId": 42,
  "EndPointName": "INT103: Receive Orders from Service Bus",
  "EndPointUri": "sb://contoso.servicebus.windows.net/orders",
  "EndPointDirection": 0,
  "EndPointTypeId": 70,
  "OriginalMessageTypeName": "https://contoso.com/Orders/1.0#Order",
  "LogDateTime": "2017-11-22T08:44:22.309Z"
}
