Install Nodinite Logging Service
The Nodinite Logging Service processes every Log Event, creates and maintains the Log Databases, and runs the retention cleanup. It ships with the Nodinite Core Services and has no installer of its own: you configure it in the Nodinite Portal, download the generated package, and run it in elevated PowerShell 7 as described in Install Nodinite v7. Check the Logging Service Prerequisites (SQL Server rights, MSDTC, firewall) before you start.
What You Set for the Logging Service in the Portal
| Setting | Portal step |
|---|---|
| Service account (identity), shared with the other Core Services by default | Step 2: Auth – Service account defaults |
| Own service account, when Same account for all Services is cleared | Step 4: Servers – Core platform services |

| Server, install path (the Core Services host) | Step 4: Servers – Selected server |
| TLS host name and certificate subject | Step 4: Servers – Core host Configuration |
| SQL Server and connection string for the Configuration Database | Step 3: Infrastructure – SQL Server connectivity |

What the Installer Does for the Logging Service
When you run the generated package, the installer CLI:
- creates the Logging Service IIS web site and application pool with the service account and port from the Portal, and binds the TLS certificate;
- deploys or updates the Configuration Database that the Logging Service reads its System Parameters from;
- registers the Logging Service address in the ProductArtifactsPath System Parameter, so that the Web API can find it.
After installation, the Logging Service creates new Log Databases itself, based on the Log Database System Parameters.
Verify the Logging Service
- In IIS Manager, the Logging Service web site and its application pool are started.
- In the Web Client, the Logging Service shows as running in the Administration Overview and in the notification area (see How do I know if the Logging Service has stopped?).
- New Log Events get processed: their processing state changes from unprocessed, and Search Field values appear in Log Views.
If the installer reports an error, see the CLI troubleshooting and the Logging Service Troubleshooting page.
Note
Nodinite v6 is no longer supported. To move an existing v6 installation, follow Updating from v6 to v7.
