Show an Article next to what it documents
The best runbook is the one that's already open when the alert comes in. Link your Article to the monitored Resources, and operators open it with one click, right in their Monitor View.
- ✅ Start a linked Article straight from a Resource in a Monitor View
- ✅ Show an Article on one Resource, or on every Resource in an Application or Category
- ✅ Let operators read it over the Monitor View, without leaving it

Animated walkthrough: from the Resource's Action menu to a linked Article, and back in the Monitor View, the Article opens from its badge.
When you need this
Operators keep asking where the restart procedure for a service is, and you want the answer to show up on the Resource that raised the alert.
What you need
- To start an Article from a Resource, the built-in Administrator Role.
- To link an Article in the editor, Modify on Articles; see Write a knowledge base Article.
- For operators to read it, View Articles on the Monitor View in their Role; see Permission Set for Monitor Views.
Do it
Start from the Resource
- In the Monitor View, click Action on the Resource's row.
- Choose Articles. The page Articles linked to Resource opens in a new tab.
- While no Article is linked, the page shows cards for the Resource, its Monitoring Agent, its Category, and its Application. Click Add Article on the Resource card.

Add Article on the Resource card links that Resource only; on the Category or Application card, every Resource in it. - A new Article opens with the Resource already linked. Type the Title, write what the operator should do, and click Save.
Once an Article is linked, the page shows it, with its Related Articles, instead of the cards. To add another, use Create new linked Article at the top and choose Link with Resource, Link with Category, or Link with Application.

The page once Articles are linked to the Resource.
Or choose in the Article editor
On the right of the editor, click Edit on a card, tick the entries, and click Confirm and close; then Save.
| Card | The Article shows for | Use when |
|---|---|---|
| Categories | All Resources in the Categories | It covers a type of resource or technology |
| Applications | All Resources in the Applications | It covers a whole application or business domain |
| Resources | Only the selected Resources | It's about specific Resources |
You can combine all three. Each card counts its links; on an entry removes it.

The association cards on the right of the editor.
What you'll see
Back in the Monitor View, the Resource has an Article badge next to Action. With one Article, the badge opens it right away; with more, it lists them with their count. The Article opens over the Monitor View, with Open full article to read it on its own page, and the switch Open Articles in a new tab by default. The Integration Landscape's status dialog shows the same badge per Resource.
If it doesn't work
- Operators don't see the Article. Check that it's linked to the Resource, its Application, or its Category, and that their Role has View Articles on that Monitor View.
- There are no Add Article buttons. The cards show only while no Article is linked; use Create new linked Article. Both need the Administrator Role.
- Still stuck? See Support.
