Nodinite is under update
When updating Nodinite, you may encounter the message "Nodinite is under update" in the Web Client. This page explains why this message appears, how to quickly restore access, and how Nodinite safeguards your environment during updates.
✅ Prevents user access during updates for data integrity
✅ Automated backup of Web Client before every update
✅ Simple recovery steps to restore service continuity
✅ Clear guidance for troubleshooting update interruptions
During the update process, the Nodinite Install and Update Tool creates a file named app_offline.htm
in the Web Client installation folder. This file temporarily blocks user access to ensure a safe update. If the update is interrupted or fails, app_offline.htm
may remain, causing the Web Client to stay offline until resolved.
The Web Client displays this message during an update or if the update process is interrupted.
If you see this message, it means the update did not complete successfully and administrative action is required.
Example of an update failure that leaves the Web Client offline.
Solution
Follow these steps to restore access to the Web Client:
Remove the app_offline.htm file
Delete the app_offline.htm
file from the Web Client installation folder, typically found at:
C:\Program Files\Nodinite\%ENVIRONMENT%\Nodinite Core Services\WebClient
Replace %ENVIRONMENT%
with your actual environment name.
If removing this file does not resolve the issue, proceed to restore from a backup.
Restore from a backup
Nodinite's Update Service automatically creates a backup of every Web Application before applying updates.
The default backup folder is:
C:\Program Files\Nodinite\Nodinite Update\Update Service\backup
Location of Web Client backups created before each update.
To restore:
- Delete all files and subfolders from the Web Client installation folder (
C:\Program Files\Nodinite\%ENVIRONMENT%\Nodinite Core Services\WebClient
). Replace%ENVIRONMENT%
as appropriate. - Extract the contents of the latest Web Client backup zip into the installation folder.
This process restores the Web Client to its previous working state, minimizing downtime and ensuring business continuity.
