Web Sites Available Actions

For the IIS Web Sites Category, the Windows Server Monitoring Agent provides the following Remote Actions:

• List Applications
• Start
• Stop
• Restart
• Recycle
• Details

Details

Select the Details action to open the selected Web Site details view.

From the Details view, the following actions are available:

• Start
• Stop
• Recycle

List Applications

Select the List Applications option to get a list of current Applications and the status of the configured App Pool:

Next, the Windows Server Monitoring Agent contacts the IIS instance and fetches information about the Web Site as requested. The result appears on the screen.

Here's an example of IIS Applications for the selected Web Site.

The following actions exist from the List Applications modal:

• Start Application Pool
• Stop Application Pool
• Recycle Application Pool

Start Application Pool

Start the selected Application Pool from the List Applications modal.

Stop the selected Application Pool from the List Applications modal.

Recycle Application Pool

Recycle the selected Application Pool from the List Applications modal.

Start Web Site

Start the selected Web Site from the action menu or from the Details view.

You will be prompted to confirm the operation.

The Windows Server Monitoring Agent contacts the IIS instance and starts the Web Site as requested. The result appears on the screen.

Stop Web Site

Stop the selected Web Site from the action menu or from the Details view.

You will be prompted to confirm the operation.

Restart Web Site

Restart the selected Web Site.

Recycle Web Site

Recycle the selected Web Site from the Details view.

You will be prompted to confirm the operation.

The Windows Server Monitoring Agent contacts the IIS instance and recycles the Web Site. The result appears on the screen.

Note

Recycling a Web Site refreshes the runtime state without requiring a full IIS reset.

Warning

Restarting a Web Site is resource intensive and may affect many other applications. When possible, opt to recycle individual Application Pools instead.
