Running Version
Check the installed version in the 'Version' text box.
The version information appears in the agent's interface.
You can also check the file details property on your local installation:
File properties display the installed version.
Compatibility and versioning issues
- 4.0 -> 4.2
- The Non-Events Agent must match the major version of Nodinite.
- 4.3.0.x -> 4.x.0.y
- New features have been added—review your settings and affected Monitor Views after updating.
- The LogText written by the Agent now only changes if the state changes.
- You must recopy the URI from 'Copy API URI' to your non-events configurations.
- 4.X -> 5.X: Review Updating from V4 to V5 for important changes.
PreReq: Install the Non-Events Monitoring Agent before updating. The Service Account credentials must have Logon as Service Right. See prerequisites for Non Events Monitoring Agent for more information.
Note
You must be part of the local administrators group to install and update the Nodinite Non-Events Monitoring Agent.
How to update
Follow these steps to update your Non-Events Monitoring Agent:
Step 1: Start the installer
Double-click the MSI file to start updating the Nodinite Non-Events Monitoring Agent.
Start the update by running the MSI installer.
Step 2: Welcome Screen
When the MSI file runs, you see a Welcome screen.
The installer welcomes you to the update process.
Click the 'Next' button to continue or 'Cancel' to exit the installer.
Step 3: Custom Setup
Select the features you want to install or update. You can also change the installation path if needed.
Choose features and installation path.
Tip
We recommend keeping the default settings. The 'Nodinite Non-Events Monitoring Agent' feature is required for the agent to function properly. If you change the installation path, ensure it points to a valid location where the agent can run without issues.
Changing the installation path is optional, but not recommended unless you have a specific reason. The default path is typically set toC:\Program Files\Nodinite\Non-Events Monitoring Agent
.
Important
If you change the location, your old configuration will be lost.
Click 'Next' to proceed or 'Cancel' to exit.
Step 4: Service Account Information
Enter the credentials for the Account that runs the Nodinite Non-Events Monitoring Agent.
Domain: Enter the domain name. For a local account, use the server name or a dot (.) as the domain.
User: Enter the account name.
Password: Enter the account password.
Provide the service account credentials.
Important
The account must have 'Log on as Service Right'.
Click 'Next' to continue or 'Cancel' to exit.
Insufficient Privileges
If the account information does not meet Prerequisites, you see an error message.
Error: Insufficient privileges for the service account.
The most common reasons are that the account is not allowed to run as a service or is not a local administrator. Follow the How to set Logon as a Service right guide and click retry. If the problem persists, click cancel and restart. Make sure to enter valid credentials!
Tip
Check the local event log for errors (both System and Application).
Step 5: Completed setup
The final step shows either a success or a premature exit.

Click 'Finish' to exit the installer.
When setup finishes, your default text editor opens a file named 'README.txt'. This file contains information to help you set up and manage the agent as a Monitoring Agents for Nodinite.
The README.txt file provides post-update instructions.
